(QNO) - The Quang Nam Police has recently had a professional meeting with Sekong Police (Laos) on drug prevention at the Nam Giang district Police Department (Quang Nam, Vietnam). The anti-drug trafficking task forces from Quang Nam and Sekong provinces participated in the meeting.
Drug crimes and abuse have remained complicated in Quang Nam. Since early 2024, authorities have arrested 388 individuals in 217 drug-related cases, seizing over 319 kilograms of drugs, including three Laotian nationals.
At the meeting, the anti-drug police forces from the two provinces agreed on several important issues. Both parties focused on improving cooperation in drug prevention and coordinating investigations into drug cases involving citizens from each country, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Public Security of Vietnam and Laos.
The meeting also discussed a draft agreement on joint operations and investigations into drug crimes involving citizens of both countries. The draft will be presented in future meetings between the police leadership of the two provinces.
