(QNO) - Since its inauguration on August 14th, 2021, the import and export turnover through the Nam Giang (Quang Nam, Vietnam) - Dak Ta Ooc (Sekong, Laos) International Border Gates has been growing significantly.
According to statistics, the total import and export turnover reached 73.392 million USD in 2022, an increase of 32% compared to 2021.
Import-export taxes amounted to over VND 68 billion, a 160% increase compared to the same period in 2021.
The total number of vehicles passing through the border gates in 2022 was 7,914 (4,133 exits and 3,781 entries), up 302% over the same period in 2021.
In 2023, the total import-export turnover reached USD 95.26 million, a growth of nearly 30% compared to 2022. Import-export taxes were over VND 138.5 billion, up 203% over the same period in 2022.
The total number of vehicles passing through the border gates was 30,338 (15,413 exits and 14,925 entries), a 303% increase compared to 2022.
In the first six months of 2024, the total import-export turnover reached USD 38.6 million. Import-export taxes amounted to VND 65.38 billion.
The total transit of goods through the border gates was 633,672 tonnes, an increase of 810% compared to the same period last year.
The most significant increase was in the volume of transit goods, which surged by 1,524.2% (nearly 497 thousand tons). The total number of vehicles passing through the border gates reached 40,290, up 545% over the same period last year.
The total number of people crossing the border was 83,949, an increase of 169% compared to the same period last year.
It is expected that an international conference on regional connection on the East-West Economic Corridor through the Nam Giang-Dak Ta Ooc Border Gates will be held in late September this year in Quang Nam.
The conference aims to promote the Vietnam - Laos border trade agreement and cooperation between Quang Nam and Sekong.
