(QNO) - Suzuki Takashi, a JICA advisor on disaster risk management at the Department of Dyke Management and Flood, Storm Control (DDMFSC) in Vietnam, has been awarded the Commemorative Medal for his contributions to agriculture and rural development in Vietnam by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
During his final working session at the end of his tenure, Suzuki Takashi, an expert from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, was honoured with this award by DDMFSC Director Pham Duc Luan.
This prestigious recognition is granted to Vietnamese citizens and foreigners who have made significant contributions to the country’s agriculture and rural development, including disaster prevention efforts.
Since beginning his tenure in July 2022, Suzuki has shared Japan’s expertise in disaster risk reduction, aligning it with Vietnam’s needs.
He has actively advised and collaborated with local partners, supported project implementation, and participated in field surveys after typhoon Yagi in September 2024, providing timely recommendations for disaster recovery and early preventive measures.
Additionally, he has compiled valuable reference materials, including documents highlighting JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) - supported cooperation between Vietnamese government agencies and Japanese enterprises in disaster prevention. He also provided policy recommendations on disaster risk mitigation.
At the award ceremony, Pham Duc Luan highly appreciated Suzuki’s contributions and wished him success in his future endeavours. JICA reaffirmed its commitment to applying Japan’s experience and technology to further support Vietnam’s disaster risk reduction efforts.
