(QNO) - A seminar to connect Japan and Vietnam tourism was oragnised in Da Nang city on July 4.
The seminar is part of the ongoing Vietnam -Japan Festival in Da Nang from July 4 to 7.
Speaking at the seminar, Head of the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) representative office in Viet Nam, Mr. Yoshida Kenji, said the year 2023 marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam - Japan diplomatic ties.
The number of Vietnamese tourists to Japan in 2023 reached a new record of 573,000, an increase of 115% compared to 2019 before COVID-19.
In the first 5 months of 2024, the number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan was 284,300, the highest ever, an increase of 108.5% compared to the same period last year.
While Japan is a traditional and stable market for Vietnamese tourism, including in Central Vietnam, The Da Nang (Vietnam) - Narita (Japan) direct flight reopened in 2023. The number of Japanese tourists to Da Nang in 2023 reached 121,000, representing 65% of 2019 with 186,000.
In the first 5 months of 2024, Da Nang welcomed more than 65,000 Japanese visitors.
According to leaders of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, the local efforts to renew destinations and tourism exchange cooperation programs will contribute to increasing the occupancy rate of direct flights between the two countries of Japan and Vietnam, thereby, opening up opportunities to connect more destinations between the two nations.
The seminar provided an opportunity for businesses in Da Nang and Vietnam to update new and appropriate information, destinations, and products to proactively deploy tourism plans that connect the two countries, Vietnam and Japan.
