(QNO) - Tran Duy continues the tradition of wood carving passed down from his father, artisan Tran Thu. However, Duy connects with the world of art on a broader scale.
In 2019, Duy's clip of carving a wooden statue of Son Goku, a globally well-known character of Japanese manga, caught the attention of Gen Z. Since then, the name Tran Duy and his wooden statues of Son Goku have become famous around the world.
In 2022, Tran Duy travelled to Bhutan to teach wood carving, invited by Bhutan's former Minister of Education. The locals had watched his YouTube carving videos and wanted him to teach the younger generation both skills and creative mindset.
Tran Duy embodies both the spirit of an artist and a craftsman. When he decided to pursue wood carving seriously, he taught himself and worked tirelessly to achieve his goals and desires.
Now, Duy's works are diverse, ranging from wood carvings to statues, all featuring meticulous and sharp craftsmanship with a unique touch.
The Au Lac Wood Art Workshop has become a cultural tourism spot in Go Noi village (Dien Ban, Quang Nam), offering visitors a hands-on wood carving experience through the Wood Carving Class.
