(QNO) - The Opening Ceremony of the 5th Quang Nam Heritage Festival was held at 8pm on June 22nd at Hoi An theatre of Quang Nam province. Mr Nguyen Xuan Phuc- Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, the national and local representatives, international guests (Mr Somsavad Lengsavath from Laos, Ms Irina Bokova – UNESCO Director-General , foreign news agency’s representatives) and local people were present at the ceremony.
The 5th Quang Nam Heritage Festival-2013 is organized by Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) cooperated with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism. The Festival happens in many regions of Quang Nam Province among which Hoi An acient town and My Son sanctuary are the key places. There are many cultural and artery activities, workshops of investment promotion,… The impressions in the festival are “Miss Ethnic Vietnam” Contest, International Choir Competition, “ASEAN - Vietnam cultural heritage space” Exhibition, “Green Growth Investment for Quang Nam province” Forum …
According to Mr Tran Minh Ca, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam PPC, Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2013 aims to honor the heritage values of Vietnam in particular and ASEAN countries in general. This is also an opportunity to exchange experiences on the conservation and promotion of heritage values, to promote the intangible culture beauties worldwide.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said: "Cultural heritage is the result of the creative process in human history. The preservation and promotion of heritage values is a great responsibility of the community. ... Along with the government and people all over the country, Quang Nam has been making efforts to conserve and restore the heritages scientifically. Hopefully this festival will create a common voice in the preservation and promotion of heritage values between Vietnam and ASEAN. Vietnam commits a good implementation to the UNESCO Convention on the intangible cultural heritage conservation…".
At the opening ceremony, Ms. Irina Bokova, UNESCO Director-General also said: "The 5th Quang Nam Heritage Festival was held on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention on the intangible cultural heritage conservation (2003-2013). This is a very important moment for Vietnam and UNESCO. In recent years, Hoi An has been active in the preservation and promotion of heritage values and in sharing many valuable experiences with the world. Let pray for regional peace and peace for the world. "
Art program at the opening ceremony was a colorful cultural convergence from ASEAN countries and Vietnam; especially, there were the traditional art performances (the oral and intangible cultural heritage of humanity transmitted by UNESCO) by the folk artists.
The 5th Quang Nam Heritage Festival-2013 will last till June 26th.
