(QNO) - In Quang Nam province, clear guidelines have helped eliminate inappropriate festivals and preserve traditional ones, particularly in ethnic minority villages.
At the end of the rainy season, the villagers who lived near the Tay Giang border in the area of the holy Fokienia forest used to hold a thanksgiving ceremony for forest gods.
Local authorities, in collaboration with village elders, have recently restored the ritual in order to maintain the Co Tu people's traditional cultural values and teach them how to safeguard the priceless Fokienia trees.
After the elders complete the forest worship ritual, the festivities begin with the participation of people of all ages.
The sounds of traditional gongs and flutes guide villagers through the sacred forest, expressing their gratitude to the forest gods for providing sustenance, shelter, and protection from natural disasters.
Thanks to local efforts, many traditional festivals have been revived. Quang Nam is now implementing a project to preserve and promote traditional cultural values associated with tourism development, offering an opportunity to awaken and showcase the unique cultural heritage of its mountainous regions.
