(QNO) - On the morning of September 6th, the Hoi An city's Women's Union (Quang Nam province) launched the "Civilized Hoi An market: Reducing plastic bags and single-use plastic waste" model.
Hoi An market, home to over 1,000 vendors spanning more than 50 product categories, attracts thousands of locals and tourists, resulting in a significant amount of waste.
Therefore, the city's Women's Union introduces this model to 65 fabric vendors and 58 souvenir sellers, aiming for 70-80% of these traders to eliminate plastic bags and single-use plastic waste by the end of the year, replacing them with eco-friendly alternatives.
Vendors have pledged to sort waste at the source, adopt a pay-per-volume waste disposal system, and switch from plastic bags to environmentally friendly packaging like paper bags, moving towards a more "Civilized Hoi An market".
