(QNO) - The first UN Tourism Conference on Tourism for Rural Development taking place in Quang Nam came to an end on the evening of December 10 with positive results.
Speaking at the closing session, Nguyen Trung Khanh, Chairman of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, highlighted the conference's vibrant dialogue and strong commitment to sustainable rural development worldwide.
Key discussions focused on rural tourism's potential and challenges, emphasising tourism's role in comprehensive rural growth, policy development, community engagement, equitable benefits, and creative product innovation.
The conference focused on sustainable financing, integrating agriculture into tourism, and empowering vulnerable groups, while members of the UN Tourism Best Tourism Villages shared their insights.
Nguyen Trung Khanh highlighted Vietnam's success in offering practical recommendations and fostering global cooperation, connecting governments, communities, businesses, and financial partners for long-term collaboration.
The conference is considered the start of the journey of rural tourism development.
In the coming time, UN Tourism will continue to provide countries with information, knowledge, and guidance to prioritise their rural tourism, including refining policies to facilitate rural tourism development and benefit local communities.
