(QNO) - Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long had a courtesy meeting with Zoritsa Urosevic, Executive Director of United Nations Tourism (UN Tourism), within the framework of the 1st International Conference on Rural Tourism held in Quang Nam province on December 10.
Present at the meeting were Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, and Secretary of the Quang Nam provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet.
During the meeting, Le Thanh Long expressed his gratitude to UN Tourism for partnering with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to select Quang Nam as the host of the 1st International Conference on Rural Tourism.
The choice was highly appropriate given Quang Nam's unique cultural convergence and its historic role as one of Vietnam's earliest gateways for international economic and trade exchanges.
According to Le Thanh Long, tourism plays an important role in Vietnam's socio-economic development, so it is necessary to boost tourism through renovation of traditional products, green growth, clean production, and digital transformation.
At the same time, he called for more support from UN Tourism in policy development, planning, and strategies for sustainable tourism development.
Zoritsa Urosevic praised Vietnam's post-Covid-19 tourism recovery efforts, particularly its visa policy reforms which have driven a surge in tourist arrivals.
She also expressed gratitude for Vietnam's warm welcome and thoughtful event organisation.
Zoritsa Urosevic stated that UN Tourism will continue supporting Vietnam's tourism through a small-scale funding program for private sectors and tourism villages, focusing on human resource development, marketing, accessibility, green growth, and the circular economy.
