The Bay Mau nipa palm forest, located near the Hoai, Thu Bon, and De Vong rivers, is just 3km from Hoi An and 31km from Danang. With its vast nipa palms and serene riverside setting, it offers a peaceful, rustic atmosphere reminiscent of the Mekong Delta.

Travellers can enjoy activities, including riding coracles through the forest, crafting nipa palm leaf jewellery, watching skilled boat dances and fishing performances, and listening to local folk songs.

Other fun experiences include traditional games, fishing under the palms, relaxing in hammocks, and tasting local dishes like crispy Vietnamese pancake, banana flower salad, and grilled fish.

It's also a perfect place for capturing unforgettable photos amid the lush palms and tranquil rivers.

The Bay Mau nipa palm forest is easily accessible from Danang by car. Besides, travellers can take a boat ride from Hoi An's Bach Dang Pier along the Thu Bon river to the forest.

The best times to visit the Bay Mau nipa palm forest are from February to June for cool and dry weather, May to July to enjoy Hoi An’s festivals, and August to November for mild weather and the full moon festival.

The Bay Mau, or Cam Thanh, nipa palm forest has a 200-year history. Originally covering 7 hectares, it now spans 100 hectares but retains the name ‘Bay Mau,’ meaning ‘seven acres’.
