Full recovery for Vietnam tourism after COVID-19

(QNO) - The national tourism industry has been highlighted by the Government as a bright spot in Vietnam's socio-economic landscape in 2024.

In 2024, Vietnam welcomed an estimated 17.5 million international tourists, a 38.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Domestic tourists reached 110 million, up 1.6% year-on-year.

Total tourism revenue amounted to approximately 840 trillion VND, a 23.8% rise from 2023. The tourism sector made significant contributions to both the national and local economies.

Tra Que Vegetable Village was honored as the "Best Tourism Village of 2024" by the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

Vietnam aims to welcome 22 - 23 million international visitors and 120 - 130 million domestic tourists. Total tourism revenue is expected to reach between 980 trillion and 1,050 trillion VND.

In Quang Nam province alone, the total number of visitors in 2024 was estimated at over 8 million, a 14% increase compared to 2023. Of these, international tourists accounted for 5.5 million, up 20%, while domestic tourists reached over 2.5 million, up 7% year-on-year.

Revenue from tourism activities, including accommodations and sightseeing, reached approximately 9.2 trillion VND, a 19% increase from 2023. The total social income generated from tourism was estimated at 21.62 trillion VND.

Quang Nam’s tourism - particularly Hoi An and My Son -has established a strong international reputation through prestigious global tourism awards, recognized as a secure and safe destinations.
