(QNO) - As a cultural gem of the Co Tu community, the Forest Thanksgiving is annually held in Tay Giang (Quang Nam province), offering visitors a unique and immersive experience in eco-heritage tourism.
The event is aimed at praying for favourable weather, prosperity, and community well-being.
Co Tu People's Forest Thanksgiving usually takes place before the farming season, sending thanks to forest spirits and seeking blessings for the new season. Revived in 2018, it preserves long-standing cultural values.
Since 2018, this festival has expanded into a major cultural event, honouring nature’s blessings, reinforcing forest protection, and preserving Co Tu traditional ceremonies and heritages in Tay Giang.
According to Arat Blui, Deputy Chairman of Tay Giang district, the Forest Thanksgiving preserves Co Tu traditions, shaping a unique cultural tourism experience. Through forest spirit rituals, the festival honours nature’s protection over the Co Tu people in Truong Son Dong mountain range.
Tay Giang currently continues to fully re-enact traditional Co Tu forest worshipping rituals, ensuring authenticity and safety. The event not only preserves Co Tu heritages but also aims to become a distinctive cultural tourism experience, attracting visitors while honouring Tay Giang’s natural treasures.
With 2,557 heritage trees, 72.46% forest coverage, and ancient Fokienia forests, Tây Giang leverages its rich biodiversity to promote eco-tourism, attract investment, and create sustainable livelihoods for locals.
