(QNO) - On the morning of December 2, Quang Nam University (QNU) held a meeting to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic's National Day (December 2, 1975 - 2024).
Present at the meeting were Souphanh Hadaoheuang, Consul General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Danang city, leaders from various departments and organisations in Quang Nam, staff of Quang Nam University, and Lao students.
The event recalled the Lao people's struggle and the founding of the Lao People's Democratic Republic 49 years ago. It also strengthened the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
Quang Nam University has provided Vietnamese language and specialised courses for Lao students for years under an annual agreement between Laos and Quang Nam province.
There are currently 176 Lao students at the university, including 64 learning Vietnamese. After graduation, they contribute to Laos' socioeconomic development.
Lao and Vietnamese students at Quang Nam University always help each other, contributing to the traditional friendship and consolidation between the two nations. At the end of each academic year, many Lao students receive recognition and awards for their excellent performance.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Trong Duong, Rector of Quang Nam University, congratulated the Lao on their achievements. He concurrently sent the best wishes to Lao people and students.
Quang Nam University pledged to continue supporting Lao students and facilitating their studies. He thanked the Lao Consulate, Quang Nam authorities, and local agencies for their help and expressed hope for more collaboration.
