(QNO) - On December 24, the first joint meeting on security matters between police forces from Quang Nam (Vietnam) and Sekong (Laos) took place in Tam Ky (Quang Nam).
Major Generals Nguyen Huu Hop and Khamban Phommanivong, Director of Quang Nam and Sekong Police respectively, co-chaired the event.
The meeting highlighted achievements in Quang Nam - Sekong security cooperation, strengthening national security, socio-economic development, and border safety. The meeting also aimed to enhance collaboration, exchange information, and institutionalise security meetings.
Major General Nguyen Huu Hop appreciated the security cooperation between Quang Nam and Sekong as a testament to their special friendship.
He urged continued collaboration to a peaceful, friendly, and developing border, thereby maintaining national security and social order, fostering enduring solidarity between the two provinces and their police forces.
During the meeting, Major General Khamban Phommanivong suggested future collaboration on suitable joint projects, especially on education and training, including Lao and Vietnamese language courses for security personnel.
Then, the first security coordination was signed between Quang Nam and Sekong Police.
The Quang Nam Police donated computers and office equipment worth VND 50 million to the Sekong Police. Besides, the two parties exchanged gifts, reinforcing their strong friendship and solidarity.
