(QNO) - On the occasion of the New Year (Bunpimay) festival of Laos, a special fair without money has just been held for Laotian people from Dak Cheung district (Sekong province) by the Quang Nam border guard.
The fair taking place last weekend made the Nam Giang international border gate bustling again after over 2 years under negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Going to the fair, Laotian people received free essential commodities such as rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, fish sauce, dried fish, sugar, clothes, and face masks. Besides, they got free medical check-ups and medicines.
According to leaders of Dak Cheung district, Laotian people's lives are very difficult due to Covid-19. The zero-dong fair is really significant. It helps Laotian people have a full and warm traditional Bunpimay festival.
The fair was also sponsored by the ‘0-VND bus’ club from Da Nang city. The club gave over 700 gifts (VND300,000 each) to Laotian people.
Reportedly, the Quang Nam border guard has had a lot of humanitarian aids and volunteering activities for Laotian people.
Over the past two years of bad impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Quang Nam border guard has helped Laotian people in Ka Lum and Dak Cheung districts (Sekong province) with tens of tons of rice, essential commodities, medicines and medical supplies, face masks among others.
Furthermore, Vietnamese and Laotian border forces always maintain regular bilateral meetings and patrols to make sure of the safety, security and stability of the border. It contributes to the Vietnam- Laos and Quang Nam- Sekong friendship traditions.
