Upgrading traditional handicraft products of Cotu ethnic people

(QNO) - The sustainable improvement of Cotu ethnic minority communities’ livelihoods in Tay Giang district (Quang Nam province) through rattan and bamboo handicrafts is of the Green Annamites Project under the US Agency for International Development.

Taking part in the project are ethnic minorities from 6 communes of A Tieng, Bha Lee, Lang, Dang, Tr’Hy and Axan.  The project aims to help Co Tu people create new products based on their traditional handicrafts and  improve their income.

The products have high aesthetic and economic values, having competitiveness in domestic and foreign markets.

The products will be introduced to tourist destinations and exported by the project.  The project has helped the local people gradually be independent of forests, secure their livehoods and sustainably protect the forest environment.
