(QNO) - Cam Nam Corncob Festival (Cam Nam commune, Hoi An city, Quang Nam province) has just been organised the first time. Along with other special activities the festival provided an ideal opportunity for the Cam Nam craft village to promote and introduce its traditional the culinary arts, the festival brought beautiful impressions and happy to both local people and international tourists.

Beside famous Tra Que fresh vegetable, Cam Nam’s waxy corn has been largely known for a long time in Quang Nam and neighbouring provinces. In order to restore and spread the “Cam Nam sticky corncob” trade mark, diversify it to be a tourism product and improve the green space of Hoi An city as well, the Cam Nam corn festival was held with many lively and attractive activities.

“Cam Nam Corncob Festival is not only an event to honour and promote another specialty of Hoi An city, but also to restore the value of this food. It is also a significant activity for local people to comeback with a traditional job which has helped them to develop their life since the old time and look toward creating and preserving the green space for Hoi An in the future,” said Mr Nguyen Su, Secretary of Hoi An Party Committee.

Those attending the event had the opportunity to experience the traditional ceremony, learn how to cook the Cam Nam sticky corncob and enjoy the specialty processed from corn such as cooked corn, roasted corn,pop corn, corn sweet soup… Over 10,000 sticky corncobs were freely given to visitors in the festival.
