(QNO) - An event to promote Quang Nam’s tourism brand image and its hospitality services was held in Mumbai, India from 14 - 15 September 2023 by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province in collaboration with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Mumbai.
This roadshow is aimed at strengthening communication and promotion activities to introduce tourist destinations, tourism images, products and services of Quang Nam’s tourism to Indian tourism businesses, tour operators and Indian press agencies, as well as creating opportunities for tourism businesses of Quang Nam province and of India to meet and connect with each other for tourism cooperation.
The programme which lies in an annual series of foreign tourism promotion events is hosted by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province, represented by Mr Van Ba Son, Deputy Director and head of the Quang Nam’s delegation to India, and co-chaired by Mr. Le Quang Bien, Consul General of Vietnam in Mumbai (India).
Vietnam Airlines, Citadines Pearl Hoi An Resort, Bliss Hoi An Beach Resort & Wellness, Hoi An Express Travel, Vinpearl Golf, Montgomerie Links Golf Club, Thang Long Central Travel and Unique Indochina Travel were among the nine tourism-related businesses from Vietnam that actively participated in the event.
Notably, leaders of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), Managing Director of Innovation India and various media organizations along with about 15 Indian filmmakers and Bollywood actors and about 120 representatives of travel agencies from the Indian side attended the event.
Addressing the opening session of the event, Mr Van Ba Son explained why the Department chooses Mumbai as a venue for this promotion event.
He said: “We chose Mumbai as a main market for our inbound tourism because there is an increasing number of Indian tourists to Vietnam. In Quang Nam province, Indian tourist arrival ranks the tenth largest international source market for the first half of the year 2023” and “Above all, Vietnam and India share many cultural and religious similarities, which is a great advantage for both Vietnamese and Indian tour operators to develop tourism products, especially those of cultural tourism”, he added.
According to the statistics given by the Department of Cultures, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam, the total number of Indian tourist arrivals to Quang Nam in the first half of 2023 is around 25,000.
In his welcoming speech, Mr Le Quang Bien, Consul General of Vietnam in Mumbai highlighted the importance of the historical and cultural bond that has been formed between Quang Nam and India over the centuries, and noted that this will be excellent opportunity to introduce to Indian tourists to the vibrant, unique and diverse region of Quang Nam.
The Consulate General of Vietnam in Mumbai will continue to work closely with Quang Nam province to further expand the tourism opportunities between Quang Nam and India, given its vital role of nurturing the bonds of friendship, understanding, collaboration and harmonization between two nations.
Given the speech at the event, the leader of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) reaffirmed that many Indian tourists have been aware of the timeless beauties, the impressive friendliness of the people of Vietnam, especially the professional and quality tourism services offered by many hotels and resorts of the region.

The event witnessed the signing of the MOC among the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province, Bliss Hoi An Beach Resort & Wellness and Indian Innovations for future tourism, cultural and Film-making corporation for tourism promotion purpose.
The MOU on tourists exchange between Quang Nam Tourism Association and IATO was also inked on this occasion.
