(QNO) - Walking in the peaceful space of the Hoi An silk village and seeing the process of weaving silk is an unforgettable experience for most of the visitors. Different regions have different ways to make silk.

The silk village is one of the original destinations in Hoi An that a large number of domestic and foreign tourists choose to visit.

There is a space to worship Madam Doan Thi Ngoc (Doan Quy Phi, 1601-1661), Founder of silk weaving in Quang Nam. The two spaces besides the worship are used to display the silk costumes of Vietnamese ethnics and silk styles through ages.

Especially, more than 40 mulberries that are hundreds of years old and many mulberry varieties from all parts of the country are stored in the village.

The image of the silkworms releasing silk and making cocoons on the mulberry branches may be the most interesting. It is also the Cham’s method of making natural cocoons. Yellow cocoons made by this method are of very high quality. Each of them can give about a thousand meters of silk thread.

After nearly an hour to visit the Silk Museum, visitors can understand the traditional process of silk weaving, distinguish some different kinds of silk, between silk and polyester fibers.

The Cham’s hand-woven products are still the most favorite in the silk village.
