The My Son Sanctuary restoration project to start in June 2015

(QNO) - An experts group led by Mr Rakesh Tewari, Director General of  the Indian archaeological agency has recently come to My Son Sanctuary (Quang Nam province) to study and survey for My Son monument restoration according to an agreement which was signed between two governments India and Vietnam in October 2014.

Accordingly, the Indian government will fund 2,5 million USD for My Son monument restoration and conservation project in five years. Besides, the Indian government also supports technical experts and supplies necessary materials, equipments to the project.

“The projects will be implemented successfully because the temples and towers of My Son are similar to the ones of India,  Cambodia, Myanmar and Nepal which have been  restored by Indian expert since many years,” said Mr Rakesh Tewari.

The tower group A of My Son Sanctuary was chosen to restore in the first phase because this is a masterpiece of architecture with the most beautiful patterns of this relic. In the second phase, two tower groups H and K will be studied for conservation.

In coming June, an Indian expert group will come to work at My Son for one month to collect documents about the monuments, weather, climate, paedology of three tower group A,H, K before building the plan for conservation.

The both sides Vietnam and India expect the project will start in February 2016.
