President Vo Van Thuong and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam arrive in Vientiane on the morning of April 10, marking the start of an official visit to Laos at the invitation of President Sisoulith.

Both leaders later review the guard of honour. This marks the first official visit to the neighbouring country by President Vo Van Thuong and his first overseas trip this year in his new position.
