VOV.VN - The Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Tourism in collaboration with Cam Ranh International Airport and Amega Tourism Co., Ltd. on June 15 welcomed 140 tourists on board aircraft from Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
During their 10-day stay, the travelers are scheduled to stay at resorts in Nha Trang city and Bai Dai beach area and explore local tourist landmarks.
This is the first time Khanh Hoa has received visitors from Uzbekistan, opening up the chance for the local tourism industry to fully tap into the new market after months of closures due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Uzbekistan, apart from the Republic of Korea and Singapore, is the third international market that has established direct air route to Cam Ranh International Airport.
Do Thi Hang, director of Amega Tourism, said the travel firms would conduct about 10 charter flights from Uzbekistan to Cam Ranh with a frequency of three flights per month in the coming time.
To fully tap the new market, the firm will deploy a range of activities to elevate Khanh Hoa as a safe destination for tourists in Uzbekistan, Hang unveiled.
In addition, she said the tour operator would work closely with other tourism businesses in Khanh Hoa to make thorough preparations to meet Muslim tourists’ customs.
Hang also emphasized the importance of visa exemption and facilitation of entry procedures for Uzbek tourists to attract more visitors to the locality.
According to Le Van Nghia, honorary consul of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Vietnam, there are bright prospects for attracting tourists from Uzbekistan – a market with 40 million consumers and rapid economic growth.
Promotions and direct routes should be launched in the near future in order to attract more visitors from Uzbekistan, he said.
Pham Minh Nhut, vice chairman of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, said that alternative markets would contribute to gradually reviving the local tourism industry, and that Khanh Hoa plans to exploit the Indian market moving forward.
