The 8th Vietnam International Choir Competition

Taking place from April 9 to 13, the competition gathers over 1,200 artists from 29 choir groups across countries including Canada, Poland, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

Participants will compete in 11 performance categories across 7 disciplines, showcasing not only technical choral excellence but also the distinct cultural identities of their home countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Van Lanh, Deputy Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee, emphasized the prestige of the organizing committee and jury, made up of internationally renowned experts. He also highlighted Hoi An's strong reputation for hospitality and organizational excellence.

He noted: “This event is an opportunity for Hoi An, Quang Nam, and Vietnam to promote cultural and tourism images to the world, and for artists to exchange creative experiences, contributing to the global music scene. It also enhances the role of Hoi An in UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network.”

Since 2011, the competition has been held biennially in collaboration with INTERKULTUR (Germany). Alongside the main event, locals and tourists can enjoy cultural activities such as river art performances, reenactments of early 20th-century Hoi An, street choir shows, and local sightseeing tours.
