(QNO) - The opening ceremony of the 2nd Ngoc Linh ginseng festival 2018 under the theme “Ngoc Linh ginseng favour” was organized by Nam Tra Mi district (Quang Nam province) on August 1. The festival has attracted thousands of local people and visitors including scientists and investors.

There are various activities at the festival such as Ngoc Linh ginseng competition and fair, display of mountainous typical agricultural products, folk games, art performances.
According to Chairman of Nam Tra Mi district’s People’s Committee Ho Quang Buu, the festival aims to introduce Vietnam’s precious medicinal plants with high economic values, especially Ngoc Linh ginseng-Vietnam to domestic and foreign friends.

The province has zoned over 15,000 ha off for Ngoc Linh ginseng. Modern science and technplogy have been applied in Ngoc Linh ginseng cultivation and processing. The movement of ginseng cultivation attached to primeval forest protection and development has been enthusiastically responsed by the residential community on Ngoc Linh peak.
In June 2017, Ngoc Linh ginseng was named in the list of national products by the Prime Minister. The Nam Tra Mi district along with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Science and Technology has conducted scientific studies on preserving and developing original genes of Ngoc Linh ginseng.

On the occasion of the festival, the National Office of Intellectual Property gave the geographical indication of Ngoc Linh ginseng to 7 communes of the district.
The 2nd Ngoc Linh ginseng festival 2018 closed on August 3.
