Sustainable and responsible tourism in central Vietnam

(QNO) - The project named “Sustainable and responsible tourism in central Vietnam” has been finished after a 2- year implementation by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and UNESCO. It was funded by the Luxembourg Government with the intention of supporting the local with new communicative methods and working mechanisms to develop sustainable and responsible tourism.

In Quang Nam province, this project has contributed to the community tourism promotion, enhancement of cultural resources for tourism, especially in rural and mountainous areas, including Triem Tay (Dien Phuong, Dien Ban), Dhroong (Ta Lu, Đong Giang), and My Son (Duy Phu, Duy Xuyen).

The project has yielded lots of fruits after a 6-month trial.  Triem Tay village has attracted nearly 3.000 visitors and grossed around 300 million VND in revenue. In Dhroong village, the role of women has been improved thanks to their stable income from community tourism and traditional brocade weaving.
