South Korea helps Hoi An with coastal aquatic resource management and development

(QNO) - The Korea Fisheries Resources Agency (FIRA) sponsored the project on Vietnamese coastal aquatic resource management and development for nearly VND 18 billion. The Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee is the project governance body.

The project has just been approved by the Provincial People's Committee and the People’s Committee of Hoi An City was assigned as its owner.

It will be implemented in Tan Hiep commune, (Hoi An city, Quang Nam province) from February 2021 to December 2022 with a total non-refundable aid of nearly 18 billion VND (equivalent to 880,000 won).

The project aims to regenerate the coastal ecosystem in Hoi An city, especially the Cham Islands Marine Protected Area, create sustainable aquatic resources through the management and restoration of aquatic resources with artificial reefs.

The project will invest in the infrastructure including the survey and installation of artificial reefs, the management and development of aquatic resources, the assessment and analysis of the project’s effectiveness, the improvement of local officials’ capacity and local income.
