Plastic waste reduction in tourism

(QNO) - A project on reducing plastic waste in Vietnamese tourism sector has been launched on February 16 with the support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam.

According to Vu The Binh - Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, the project has three components: communications for raising awareness of plastic waste reduction in the tourism industry; solutions and initiatives for plastic waste reduction piloted in some restaurants, hotels, resorts and tourist attractions in Quang Nam and Ninh Binh; action plans for reducing plastic waste in the tourism industry and applications for plastic waste management.

The project is aimed at reducing plastic waste, contributing to the environment protection, and achieving sustainable development goals.

The project is carried out from January 2023 to June 2024.

Quang Nam (VNA) – The Management Board of the Cu Lao Cham World Biosphere Reserve in Hoi An city in central Quang Nam province is working hard on monitoring plastic waste in order to protect aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity in the area.
