(QNO) - Kim Bong carpentry artisans used to be very famous for their talents for building boats. In spite of up-and-down time, their traditional craft has been preserved well.
The village developed well and became prosperous in the period of the 15-17 centuries when wooden barges were popular and the Hoi An international trading port were busy and flourishing.
At that time, the locals used wooden barges to travel around to do business with both domestic and foreign partners. So, building wooden barges was a profit-making craft in Kim Bong carpentry then.
Although wooden barges are no longer used, visitors still have chance to see wooden barges exhibited in Hoi An ancient quarter.
