(QNO) - Hoi An city of Quang Nam province chooses to join the UNESCO creative cities network in crafts and folk arts.
Hoi An city has had a report titled Hoi An - from a heritage city to a creative city in order to talk about the aims and significance of the city joining the UNESCO creative cities network.
At the same time, the event took place in the hope that all the local residents and visitors to Hoi An take part in making Hoi An a global creative city.
The UNESCO creative cities network was founded in 2004 in order to promote cooperation with and among cities. The network includes 246 members now.
These cities are using cultural creation and values for their sustainable development.
The network covers 7 creative fields, including crafts and folk arts, design, film, gastronomy, literature, media arts, and music.
Hoi An chooses crafts and folk arts to join the network because the city owns several traditional craft villages and a lot of cultural values that are now well - preserved.
Joining the UNESCO creative cities network may help Hoi An grow sustainably, especially in tourism development, enhancing livelihoods and improving the local life standards.
