As daughters-in-law of Quang Nam province, Ngu Thi Thuong Uyen and Quang Thi Thu Loi have brought their looms from their homeland, My Nghiep village, to My Son Sanctuary.

For Cham women, not only is brocade weaving a job but it also shows a woman’s personality and virtue.

Brocade weaving is a long tradition of the Cham people associated with the legend of the Mother Goddess Po Ina Nagar, who obeyed God’s orders to come to Earth and taught Cham people to grow rice, plant cotton and weave brocade.

Cham brocade is often bright and colourful with beautiful patterns. The patterns on Cham costumes show their owners’ social position.

At the rest stop of My Son Sanctuary, visitors may see these two women weaving brocade. They may make about 2 or 3 products a day, maybe shawls or their traditional dresses.
