(QNO) - Governor of Sekong Leklay Sivilay, leading the provincial high-level delegation, visited the Lower Laos Resistance Base and the South Central Regional Bureau of Border Affairs in Phu Thinh town (Phu Ninh district, Quang Nam province) on September 28.
Phan Thai Binh, Permanent Deputy Chairman of the Quang Nam People's Committee, accompanied the delegation.
At the Lower Laos Revolutionary Resistance Base, the delegation received a brief on the history of this base. This place is evidence for the special traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
During his visit to the site, Leklay Sivilay felt touched. For him, the Lower Laos Resistance Base holds deep significance for both Vietnam and Laos, especially for Quang Nam and Sekong.
Leklay Sivilay expressed his gratitude to Quang Nam, especially Phu Ninh, for preserving the site's historical significance. He hoped it would remain a symbol of Vietnam-Laos solidarity and pledged that Sekong would work with southern Lao provinces to further develop the site.
Leklay Sivilay suggested including archival images of former Secretary and Governor of Sekong, Le Viet Muong, who made significant contributions to the national and provincial liberation struggle and later made Sekong prosperous.
On this occasion, the delegation visited the exhibition room for images and artefacts and took photos at the Lower Laos Resistance Base and the South Central Regional Bureau of Border Affairs.
Reportedly, Phu Ninh is currently planning a 5-hectare area for the construction of the Lower Laos Resistance Base and the South Central Regional Bureau of Border Affairs.
