Efforts to become a well-developed province in the country
Quang Nam aims to become a well-developed province in the country by 2030. The province makes every effort to be an important growth hub in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands, with a modern synchronous infrastructure network.
Accordingly, Quang Nam focuses on developing aviation, seaports, logistics, tourism, automotive and mechanical industries, and electrical manufacturing on a regional scale.
It also plans to establish a national-level pharmaceutical industrial centre and deep-process industries for agro-forestry products and silica.
The province will have high-quality vocational training institutions, a rich cultural identity, most medical and educational institutions meeting national standards, an urban system connected with rural areas, and strong national defence, security, and sovereignty over land, sea, and islands, ensuring social order and safety.
Quang Nam will design the provincial space, which will include two regions, two dynamic clusters, and three development corridors.
Two regions are the east and the west. The eastern region includes urban areas, towns, and cities on the coastal plains. It is considered the province's driving force with its primary economic sectors, such as the marine economy, industry, commerce, services, tourism, and agriculture.
The western region consists of mountainous districts. The region is designated for preserving natural forest ecosystems and developing national forestry and medicinal plant resources, among which Ngoc Linh ginseng is the main product.
It is also the place for developing the natural pharmaceutical industry, the agricultural and farm economies, hydroelectric power and mineral exploitation, and protecting border areas.
This region is a bridge connecting the provincial coastal areas and Danang with the Central Highlands and the countries along the East-West economic corridor.
Two dynamic clusters are Dien Ban-Hoi An-Dai Loc in the north and Tam Ky-Nui Thanh-Phu Ninh in the south.
Three development corridors include the coastal economic driving corridor from the Danang - Quang Ngai expressway to the coast, the corridor along the East Truong Son road and the Ho Chi Minh road in the western part, and the corridor along national highways 14B and 14E connecting to national highway 14D and the Nam Giang international border gate.
Quang Nam also identifies key breakthroughs for development in the coming time, including bettering the infrastructure system, enhancing competitiveness, improving the quality of human resources and social welfare, and strengthening scientific and technological capacity.
Besides, the province will perfect mechanisms and policies related to the socialisation of airports, seaports, and economic zones, especially the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone.
Mechanisms for regional linkage and for each region will also be established. Investment will focus on projects that connect the eastern and western regions, developing mountainous areas, and especially transportation infrastructure that connects the central provinces with southern Laos.
In addition, Quang Nam is finalising two projects to submit to the government, including the establishment and development of an industrial centre for the deep processing of silica products and the foundation of a natural pharmaceutical industrial centre.
