The startup programme in Quang Nam was born rather late compared to that of some other localities in Vietnam. It started in the first quarter of 2017 and became hot with the combined startup support projects for women and students. Namely, the Quang Nam students and creative startup forum was held in June, 2017; a startup training course for women in August, 2017; the opening of startup clubs in Hoi An city and Chu Lai (Nui Thanh district) in March, 2017, and in Tam Ky city in June, 2017.
Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh always encourages the youth to start their own businesses because he cares about startup so much. At a recent startup forum, he mentioned the special geographical location of Quang Nam, the place of cultural diversity, the land of trading exchange occurring very early, and especially the province owning the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone. They are foundation, potentials and advantages to start businesses. Mr. Thanh showed three sectors to startups, tourism, agriculture (including organic agriculture, clean agriculture, and tourism agriculture), and fine mechanics (supporting industry for mechanic industry with Truong Hai Auto Corporation (Thaco) as the nucleus).
For Thaco, the corporation wants to create conditions for Quang Nam youths to start their businesses in fine mechanics, whereby the localization rate of this enterprise will increase, helping reduce the cost price of their products.
Quang Nam is currently setting up the startup fund of about VND 3 billion to help Quang Nam youths with creative spirits and unique ideas of startup.
