(QNO) - An experience exchange between the high-ranking delegations of Quang Nam and Sekong provincial People’s Councils took place in Tam Ky city (Quang Nam province) on October 18.
Present at the event were Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Council Phan Viet Cuong and Dongphet Phanhon- Chairman of the People's Council of Sekong province (Laos).
According to Phan Viet Cuong, the exchange is a significant activity under the 60th anniversary of the Vietnam - Laos diplomatic relations and 45 years of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation between the two countries.
It also shows the ties and development of the traditional and special friendship between Quang Nam and Sekong provinces.
As a province in the Central key economic region with a strategic position on the East-West Corridor and several beautiful beaches, Quang Nam has a lot of advantages for the development of tourism and services.
In the first 9 months of 2022, GRDP (gross regional domestic product) of Quang Nam increased by 13.2%, ranking 4th among the cities and provinces with the highest GRDP in Vietnam.
Quang Nam is now also the locality that has the highest growth rate in the Central key economic region.
Giving a speech at the event, Phan Viet Cuong talked about the effective exchange and cooperation between Quang Nam and Sekong which has contributed to the socio-economic development and national defence and security in the two provinces.
It has also promoted the special traditional friendship between Quang Nam and Sekong.
At the same time, the two localities should have a strategic breakthrough for the development that is suitable for the potential, strengths and good friendship between Quang Nam and Sekong.
According to Dongphet Phanhon, the special traditional friendship between Quang Nam and Sekong has promoted the socio-economic development and bettered the local lives.
Quang Nam has supported Sekong with infrastructure construction, life stabilization, and border management. He also wished Quang Nam to help Sekong with the training of human resources.
A delegate from Sekong said that Sekong is ready for helping Quang Nam cadres to learn Lao language and suggested rotational annual meetings between two provincial people’s councils in the coming time.
The experience exchange also focused on a lot of things related to functions of national assembly delegations and people’s councils.
Two parties hoped to further promote the traditional friendship and solidarity between the two provinces, especially in national defence and security, investment and economic development.
Earlier, the delegation from Sekong visited the Vietnamese Heroic Mother Statue.
