(QNO) - A meeting between Quang Nam and Sekong provinces about the Vietnam-Laos border security has recently taken place in Sekong province of Laos.
The meeting assessed the security situation in the area of Quang Nam - Sekong border and said that it has been basically stable in recent years, contributing to facilitating the socio-economic development of each party.
However, there are still some problems in the area such as illegal migration, marriage, and immigration. Besides, the life in border communes is rather hard and underdeveloped.
Two parties agreed to exchange criminal information related to national security and social safety in the border area.
At the same time, Quang Nam and Sekong will make mutual exchanges of experiences in national defence and security, economy, science and technology, culture and society in the area, and fighting against criminals.
Also at the meeting, two parties agreed to strengthen the activities through the border, such as controlling the boder crossing, in order to ensure the national security in the border area.
The Quang Nam Border Guard Command and the Department of Public Security of Sekong also planned to raise people’s awareness of obeying the law and fighting against criminals.
