(QNO) - Quang Nam has recently submitted a proposal relating to the development of Vietnamese ginseng industry in the period of 2021-2030 with a vision to 2045.
Ngoc Linh ginseng is a rare endemic species of ginseng with high economic values found in the Ngoc Linh mountainous area of Quang Nam and Kon Tum provinces.
The saponin content of Ngoc Linh ginseng is quite high, composed of 52 types of saponin. Meanwhile, Korean red ginseng, which is considered as the top-ranking ginseng in the world, contains about 25-32 types of saponin.
Therefore, Quang Nam suggested setting up a national programme of Vietnamese ginseng development.
The project on preservation and development of Ngoc Linh ginseng towards 2030 has been approved.
Accordingly, Quang Nam and Kon Tum provinces have made their effort to turn Ngoc Linh ginseng into the local key crops, which helps stabilize the locals’ lives and contribute to the local poverty alleviation.
Besides, Quang Nam has been trying to attract more investment in Ngoc Linh cultivation, production and growth.
To develop Ngoc Linh ginseng in a par with other countries’ ginseng, Quang Nam suggested the Government of Vietnam setting up a national programme of Ngoc Linh ginseng development in the period of 2021-2030 with a vision to 2045.
Quang Nam is expected to become a national Ngoc Linh Ginseng breeding centre by 2030 and Vietnam will become one of the biggest countries of ginseng production in the world by 2045.
