(QNO) - The seminar, titled “Commitment to green tourism – from pledge to action,” held on March 30 in Hoi An city.
At the seminar, representatives from Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort (Cam An ward, Hoi An city) shared their experiences in sustainable tourism development.
According to Mr. Vuong Dinh Manh, Head of the Green Tourism Association, one of the biggest challenges for local businesses pursuing green tourism is balancing economic viability with sustainable and responsible development.
Quang Nam is the first province in Vietnam to establish provincial-level green tourism criteria, introduced in 2021 with seven key focus areas. As of now, 33 businesses and destinations across the province have met the requirements and received Quang Nam’s green tourism certification.
During the seminar, participants emphasized the importance of strong commitments and effective policies from both the government and business partners to support local enterprises in transitioning to sustainable tourism.
Mr. Van Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, emphasized that Quang Nam had embraced green tourism initiatives as early as the early 2000s. Cham Islands, for example, set a precedent with the launch of the “Plastic bag free island” campaign, leaving a strong impression on visitors.
In recent years, Quang Nam’s tourism sector has actively worked to solidify its brand identity as a green destination, most notably through the slogan “Quang Nam - A Green Heritage Land.”
