(QNO) - A high-level delegation from Nagasaki (Japan) paid a working visit to Quang Nam on the afternoon of August 30, 2023.
Standing Deputy Secretary Le Van Dung and Chairman Le Tri Thanh of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee, and leaders of provincial services and agencies received the guests.
The Japanese delegation included Oishi Kengo, Governor of Nagasaki Prefecture; Tokunaga Tatsuya, Chairman of the Assembly of Representatives of Nagasaki; and Yakabe Yoshinori, Consul General of Japan in Da Nang City.
The Japanese visit took place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relations (1973 - 2023).
At the working session, two parties discussed the plan for cooperative activities between the two localities in the coming time.
Giving a speech at the working session, Le Van Dung talked about the Quang Nam provincial socioeconomic recovery after Covid-19. He also said that Quang Nam wished to cooperate with Nagasaki on the basis of mutual benefits and deep friendship.
Vietnam - Japan and Quang Nam - Nagasaki relations started over 400 years ago through Hoi An trading port and the marriage between Princess Ngoc Hoa and merchant Araki Sotaro.
However, the cordial cooperative ties between Quang Nam and Nagasaki were officially inked with a Memorandum of Understanding in 2017.
At the working session, Quang Nam Chairman Le Tri Thanh and Nagasaki Governor Oishi Kengo discussed the fields of cooperation, including human resource training, healthcare, culture, tourism, agriculture, and natural disaster prevention.
Reportedly, there are 18 Japanese projects with a total registered capital of more than USD 6 billion in Quang Nam, focusing on processing and manufacturing industries, travel and services.
Most of them are successful and contribute to the development of Quang Nam.
The Nagasaki delegation visited Hoi An before leaving Quang Nam.
Quang Nam is planning to visit Nagasaki by October 2023 in order to foster friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties.
