(QNO) - Science and technology, especially hi-tech is considered as an important factor in sustainable development. Therefore, Quang Nam province has created favorable conditions for the development of science and technology in general and hi-tech in particular. On 30 January, 2018, a symposium on searching for solutions to hi-tech park construction, management and operation in the locality was organized by the Quang Nam People’s Committee in coordination with VinIT Institute of Technology with the participation of experts and scientists specializing in development of hi-tech park.

Speaking at the symposium, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam People’s Committee Le Van Thanh said the province in the past time focused on building hi-tech parks in order to foster industrialization, modernization and shift production structure towards application of modern and advanced techniques and technologies to create new technological products, applying automation and digitalization to improve labour productivity, lowering the price of products, contributing to increase the competitive capacity of agricultural and hi-tech products such as Ngoc Linh ginseng and Tra Mi cinnamon.

Besides, the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone is a place suitable to develop hi-tech park thanks to its favourable conditions including infrastructure and services, raw materials, opportunities. In addition, the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone is selected as one of the five Prior Economic Zones in development by the Government of Vietnam and allowed to set up the multi-purpose mechanical and automobile center of Vietnam. The South Korean Ministry of Industry and Trade has also agreed to support the development of Vietnam-South Korea industrial zones, urban area and services in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone. Here, CNC company under CCI Vietnam has participated in the chain of global production value with chip product, an incentive to stimulate other businesses applying hi-tech.

According to Professor Chu Hao, former Deputy Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam at the symposium, there are 5 factors needed to build and operate a hi-tech park, including confidential and professional human resources, investment capital, advantage position and good infrastructure, scientific plans, proper policies. Local authorities also play an important role in the success of hi-tech park.
