(QNO) - Quang Nam Biodiversity Museum is the first provincial-level biodiversity museum in Vietnam. It houses over 3,700 photos and more than 1,200 specimens of flora and fauna.
Quang Nam Biodiversity Museum is a result of the 2015-2021 biodiversity database project.
It was launched in May 2024, following national and regional institutions like the Vietnam National Museum of Nature and Nha Trang Oceanographic Museum.
The museum focuses on research, collection, preservation, exhibition, and database management of Quang Nam’s biodiversity. It supports management, research, education, and awareness efforts on biodiversity conservation.
The museum is designed with various exhibition areas, including a general introduction zone, plant and animal displays, interactive space, archives, research rooms, and specimen preservation areas.
It displays over 3,700 photos and more than 1,200 specimens of 719 species across 274 families, including plants, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, insects, fish, and benthic organisms. The museum also features digital maps, scientific reports, and datasets.
In addition, the museum has received specimens from provincial scientific projects and the Cu Lao Cham Marine Protected Area.
Besides showcasing Quang Nam’s rich biodiversity, the museum highlights rare, endemic, and unique species found in its natural habitats.
The museum also collaborates with scientific organisations and individuals to expand its specimen collection and raise public awareness on biodiversity conservation.
