(QNO) - Promoting public-private partnerships is one of the ways to effectively tap into Quang Nam's coastal tourism potential.
The two-week Tam Ky Sea Festival 2024 has just ended. In Hoi An, a Sea Festival will continue until the end of July. However, these events have not significantly boosted tourism due to limited private sector involvement.
Not only in Tam Ky and Hoi An, but also in coastal localities like Dien Ban, Thang Bình, and Nui Thanh, there have been "sea festivals" or coastal culture and sports festivals. However, the impact of these events on stimulating and promoting tourism has been faint.
According to Mr. Van Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Quang Nam, despite organizing numerous events and exchange programs in recent years, festivals have not yet fully captured the celebratory spirit or drawn significant attendance.
Mr. Le Ngoc Thuan, Director of An Bang Beach Event and Festival Organizing Company, suggests that authorities in Quang Nam should strategically plan specific areas to innovate coastal tourism products.
This would encourage businesses to participate in developing annual festivals focused on sports, music, and arts to boost coastal tourism.
According to the Swiss Sustainable Tourism Programme (SSTP), effective public-private cooperation requires a shared vision and clear alignment between sectors to achieve sustainable tourism development. This collaboration can enhance the capacity of businesses, government agencies, and communities to meet sustainability goals.
An event showcasing clear public-private cooperation to boost coastal tourism will take place at the end of July in Duy Xuyen coastal area, namely the Quang Nam International Kite Festival 2024.
The Quang Nam International Kite Festival 2024 was swiftly conceptualized and detailed within a few months. Stakeholders aim for it to become an annual summer event, promoting Quang Nam's beach tourism and positioning itself alongside other regional festivals like the Hue Festival and Da Nang International Fireworks Festival.
Steve Wolstenholme, Chairman and CEO of Hoiana, believes the festival will strongly enhance Quang Nam's appeal to international tourists.
This demonstrates Hoiana's commitment and efforts to strategically collaborate with Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Quang Nam to promote and develop destinations.
At a Quang Nam tourism development workshop, Mr. Kai Partale, a tourism expert from SSTP emphasized that successful and sustainable tourism hinges on collaboration between public and private sectors.
Key to effective partnerships is developing tourism products that prioritize customer needs, aiming to deliver memorable experiences for tourists.
