(QNO) - On February 28, the launch ceremony of the "Swiss Tourism for Sustainable Development in Vietnam" (ST4SD) project took place in Hanoi. Quang Nam is one of three provinces in Vietnam benefiting from this project.

Swiss delegates joined a cooking experience in Tra Que (Hoi An) and inspected the ST4SD project site for mid-2025 launch.

Leaders of the Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism attended the ceremony, where Swiss Embassy representatives announced a 3.6 million CHF (over 101 billion VND) non-refundable grant.

The project, overseen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, runs from 2024 to 2027 in Quang Nam, Ha Giang, and Dong Thap, with possible expansion to Hue, Can Tho, and Hanoi.

It supports sustainable tourism policies, enhances training for tourism professionals, and aids local destinations and businesses in sustainable operations.

The ST4SD project focuses on three key areas: implementation plans, master planning, and policies for sustainable tourism development.

It aims to strengthen public-private dialogue at national, regional, and provincial levels while developing a tourism competitiveness index for Vietnam, provide high-quality training programs to enhance skills and expertise in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

It also supports destinations with sustainable tourism initiatives and raises awareness among businesses about sustainability standards.
