(QNO) - As the Lunar New Year of the Snake approaches, skilled young artisans from the 500-year-old pottery village, Thanh Ha, unveil snake mascots.
It has become a tradition for young artisans in Thanh Ha pottery village (Hoi An, Quang Nam province) to make Lunar New Year mascots at the beginning of December each year. For the Lunar New Year of the Snake (2025), the artisans have created snake mascots.Le Van Nhat, from Thanh Ha pottery village, is one of three skilled artisans chosen to make the snake mascot.Le Van Nhat said he would make a playful, gentle-looking snake mascot. It will be displayed at the village gate on December 15. The snake will rest on a 60x40x50 cm ceramic base.Another skilled young artisan, Nguyen Viet Lam, has completed two snake mascots. Once the clay dries, they will be fired and displayed in the village.Lam has made a pair of king cobra mascots symbolising strength and wishing everyone health and prosperity in the new year. The mascots are paired with a lotus flower.The lotus symbolises purity, luck, and integrity. It will bring good fortune and plain sailing to everyone.This year, Thanh Ha will display six snake mascots along the road leading to the pottery village, hoping to delight visitors during the Tet holiday.
