Heavy rain doesn't deter visitors from ploughing fields in Hoi An
(QNO) - Despite the heavy rain, visitors, especially Westerners, waded through muddy fields to experience ploughing in Hoi An. This unique activity offers visitors a chance to connect with nature and immerse themselves in local farming traditions.

The going-to-the-field festival in Cam Chau (Hoi An, Quang Nam), taking place on December 28, was attractive to locals and visitors who enjoyed traditional farming activities, including ploughing, planting rice, and scooping water with long-handled buckets, despite rain and mud.

James, a tourist from New Zealand, described ploughing a field as challenging but satisfying. He said that trekking through mud and guiding the buffalo wasn’t easy but it was an amazing experience in Hoi An.

To assist visitors, local farmers enthusiastically guided them through farming activities. The festival also served rustic Quang-style dishes, including Cao Lau, Quang noodles, and crispy Vietnamese pancakes.

The festival included activities, such as farming contests, duck-catching, and bài chòi singing, which provided experiences for visitors, fostering excitement for the new crop season.
It plays an important role in preserving rice farming culture and promoting green tourism, inspiring farmers, and presenting local traditions to visitors.
