(QNO) – My Son Sanctuary - a UNESCO heritage site is emerging as a model for heritage preservation and promotion
After 25 years of UNESCO recognition, My Son's heritage management and preservation have made significant progress. The legal framework has been strengthened, transforming the monuments from ruins to restored sites. International cooperation has provided valuable experience for sustainable preservation and promotion for My Son Sanctuary.
Domestic and international support has revitalized several temple groups.
From 2003 to 2013, nearly 60 billion VND was allocated by the Italian and Vietnamese governments and UNESCO to restore Group G. From 2016 to 2022, the Indian government funded nearly 60 billion VND to preserve Groups A, K, and H. The My Son Sanctuary also emphasizes technological infrastructure improvements.
According to Dang Huu Phuc, Vice Chairman of Duy Xuyen District People's Committee, researchers and experts are encouraged to explore unresolved or undiscovered cultural aspects, offering logical insights into art, aesthetics, and techniques. This collaborative effort aims to unearth cultural layers yet to be revealed or studied.
