(QNO) - After launching a direct route to India in August 2024, Chu Lai Port now connects directly to the US market, boosting its role as a key international transhipment hub for Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.

The first direct export without transhipment via a mother vessel was 400 semi-trailers from THACO INDUSTRIES that were delivered straight to Jacksonville Port, USA, on November 18 at Chu Lai Port.

The U.S. is a key market for two-way sea trade in goods like wood, vehicles, and parts. Chu Lai Port's direct route saves time and costs by cutting transhipment for exports from Central Vietnam.

The growing demand for exports to the U.S. has led Chu Lai Port to expand partnerships with global shipping lines, connecting to major U.S. ports like Los Angeles, New York, and Jacksonville, with four shipments monthly. Flexible charter services also handle urgent or high-volume orders.

Chu Lai Port Director Phan Van Ky highlighted that the deep-water berth, supporting ships up to 50,000 DWT, reduces transhipment costs for exporters in nearby industrial zones. THILOGI’s FMC license further minimizes risks and costs, ensuring compliance with strict U.S. regulations.

Chu Lai Port has received nearly 1,000 ships this year, providing efficient transport solutions for businesses. It plans to expand markets, attract new shipping routes, and boost exports from Central Vietnam, the Central Highlands, Laos, and Cambodia.

The port is advancing digital transformation for efficiency and to become a sustainable "green port," driving regional growth and supporting the export-import community.
