(QNO) - Quang Nam has recently formulated a plan to strengthen the management, conservation, and development of Ngoc Linh ginseng in the province through 2030, with a vision toward 2035.

Ngoc Linh Ginseng

The resolution aims to establish Ngoc Linh ginseng as a strategic crop driving economic sectors, boosting socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Quang Nam, and achieving global recognition.

By 2030, production zones covering 8,400 hectares will be developed in Nam Tra My and other areas, supplying raw materials for the Medicinal Industry Center and meeting processing and market demands locally and globally.

Annually, 300–350 hectares will be harvested, yielding 100 tons of ginseng roots aged five years or older. Conservation areas and genetic resource gardens will be set up in key ecological zones.

Two preservation centers at Tra Linh and Tak-Ngo will be upgraded to produce 300,000 - 500,000 high-quality seedlings annually, ensuring sufficient supply.

Large-scale gardens (30 - 50) for households and enterprises will produce 5 - 10 million one-year-old seedlings yearly, with 15 - 30% of production certified to GACP-WHO standards.

To achieve these goals, the resolution outlines several key measures, include improving management, leveraging natural advantages, creating supportive policies, diversifying products, and establishing Ngoc Linh ginseng as a high-value commodity while protecting its Vietnamese Ginseng brand.
