According to Agoda, search volume for Viet Nam has shown a consistent upward trend, culminating in a dramatic 84 percent spike in September compared to the same period last year as international tourists plan their Christmas and New Year holidays.

The figures were recorded at 4 percent on-year increase in July and 31 percent in August.

Tourist interest in northern Viet Nam's key regions remains strong despite damage from Typhoon Yagi. Booking data on the platform indicates a 4 percent on-year increase in room reservations from August to October for popular destinations including Ha Noi, Sapa, Ha Giang, Ha Long Bay, Hai Phong, and Cat Ba.

Viet Nam welcomed over 12.7 million foreign tourists in the first nine months of 2024, marking a significant increase of 43 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The growth of the tourism sector in the first nine months of the year was attributed to the introduction of favorable visa policy and tourism promotion programs, as well as tourism awards granted to Viet Nam by international organizations, told the General Director of the GSO Nguyen Thi Huong.

The tourism industry is determined to achieve the goal of attracting 17-18 million international visitors this year, as the last three months are the peak season for international arrivals in Viet Nam.
