Tourism development aligned with biodiversity conservation
(QNO) - The Quang Nam provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in collaboration with the provicial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, has just held a workshop titled "Tourism development linked to biodiversity conservation in Quang Nam 2024."
Representatives from international organizations, national parks, nature reserves, tourism experts, businesses, and related departments attended the workshop.
Mr. Van Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Quang Nam, emphasized that biodiversity is essential for tourism, with a healthy environment key to the industry’s competitiveness.
Coasts, mountains, rivers, and forests are major attractions for global tourists, with biodiversity central to nature-based experiences like wildlife viewing and scuba diving.
Sustainable tourism connects people with nature and promotes conservation, making biodiversity a vital resource for eco-friendly tourism development.
Sustainable tourism activities help raise awareness of conservation, as well as facilitate the scientific exploitation of resources, providing economic and social benefits to local communities, creating jobs, improving livelihoods, and contributing to poverty alleviation.
Delegates at the workshop discussed sustainable livelihoods linked to tourism and proposed initiatives for Quang Nam, including digitizing biodiversity data, enhancing tourism business participation, prioritizing specialized tours at unique ecosystems, and establishing a rescue center for forest species.
